Jordan Plofsky Joins Altera as Senior Vice President of Embedded Processor Products

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 2001--Altera Corporation (Nasdaq:ALTR) today announced that Jordan Plofsky has joined Altera as senior vice president of embedded processor products, reporting to John Daane, president and CEO. Mr. Plofsky's responsibilities will include marketing and engineering of Altera's Excalibur(TM) embedded processor solutions.

``Jordan brings nearly 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry to Altera,'' said John Daane, Altera president and CEO. ``His first hand knowledge of the communications industries, intellectual property design and marketing, and the system-on-a-chip market will be of direct benefit to Altera as we extend the reach of our devices across the high-growth markets that we serve.''

Mr. Plofsky was previously executive vice president of the Enterprise Internetworking Group at LSI Logic. He has earlier served in a variety of management and senior executive roles at Analog Devices Inc. and Harris Corporation. Mr. Plofsky holds a BSEE degree from the University of Illinois.
